Chase Review Finds Errors in Debt-Collection Lawsuits When Bank Sued Consumers

The Wall Street Journal has reported that JPMorgan Chase has made numerous mistakes in the process of collecting debts from consumers. The errors included misstating the amounts of interest, and claiming incorrect amounts of fees that it was entitled to.

Additionally, some affidavits were signed without personal knowledge, which is a practice that has commonly been called “robo-signing.”

Chase disputes that these errors important, calling them “minimal.”

Massachusetts consumers who have been sued by debt collectors based on a Chase credit card with inaccurate information may have claims under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act or the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act.
