Culik Law Files Credit Reporting Suit Against PNC

The lawsuit alleges that PNC furnished inaccurate information about a Massachusetts consumer’s account history, which was included on the consumer’s credit report. The suit also alleges that PNC unlawfully attempted to collect a debt from the consumer that had been discharged in bankruptcy.

Consumers in Massachusetts are permitted to take legal action against credit reporting agencies (such as Trans Union, Equifax, and Experian), as well as furnishers of information (the banks, debt collectors, and other financial institutions who provide data to the credit reporting agencies).

The two major laws that protect against inaccurate and misleading are the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Massachusetts Credit Reporting Act.
