Updated: Jan 22

It has always been a struggle to repair errors on your credit report. It is one of the major reasons that consumers avoid repairing their credit until errors start to seriously affect them and their financial health.

Now, however, all three of the major credit bureaus — Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion — have web portals that allow providing additional documents, potentially making the credit report dispute process easier and more effective for consumers.

In an interview with the New York Times about credit reporting, Chi Chi Wu, a lawyer with the National Consumer Law Center, said “Now that you can upload documents, it allows for a more robust dispute online.”

The links to each credit reporting agency’s online credit report disputing form are here:

  2. Experian Credit Report Dispute

  3. TransUnion Credit Report Dispute

When submitting a credit dispute, it is important to include all relevant information and documents. You should also save copies of any documents you submit and save printouts or screenshots of what you write in the dispute.

Each credit bureau maintains a separate credit file. You can get a copy of all three of your credit reports for free from the website AnnualCreditReport.com.

If any credit bureaus fail to fix your credit report, you should contact a consumer protection attorney versed in the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Our office provides no-cost case evaluations for violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
